Once agan, the city has managed to suck the life out of the party. Cops were everywhere, and I've never heard so much talk of arrests and fines. I did get a scarce few boob shots, -- Thank you ladies (and husbands)!-- and I may still use them in another gallery, but something else happened that weekend that I think is more important:

On the last day of Bike Week, Elizabeth Book planned a protest against the arrests and fines levied against women for flashing their breasts at Daytona Beach. Having been penalized herself in years past, her goal was to have top freedom decriminalized, arguing that the city should not be allowed to use her breasts as a source of revenue, that the breast is not a sex organ, and demanding the right to go top-free wherever it is appropriate for men to do the same.

If I understand correctly, she claims the local ordinances allow top-freedom as long as it is in the context of political protest.

From several reports and interviews I heard, She hoped to lead agroup of topless protesters down Main St. Daytona Beach, operating under assurances from the police that there would be no arrests. Ms. Book and I spoke briefly before the protest. She was visibly shaken, but determined to proceed.
